In Middle School, our students engage in a balanced and rigorous curriculum designed to nurture curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. Through the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), learners explore 12 subjects, gaining both depth and breadth across academic disciplines.

Our curriculum integrates Languages and Humanities, Sciences and Mathematics, and the Performing Arts, ensuring that every student develops a strong foundation in analytical, expressive, and creative skills. From Literature and History to Physics, Biology, and Chemistry, students are encouraged to make meaningful connections between concepts and real-world contexts thanks to our science labs and school trips.

Our campus is purposefully designed to support this development, featuring two fully equipped science laboratories and a dedicated design lab for hands-on academic learning, along with outstanding sports facilities — including a football field, gym, and basketball court — and vibrant arts spaces such as a music and drama room and an art lab.

The Italian Team supports students with a systematic approach to the preparation of all exams, including the Invalsi tests. Our students consistently achieve excellent results in both the Invalsi and the Esame di Terza Media. These achievements are particularly noteworthy since our students are assessed by an external examination committee.

All results are validated by an independent external commission of teachers from the local state school.
Our Terza Media students have consistently attained a strong average score above 8/10, with approximately 30% of them being awarded the top mark of 10/10.

Our MYP Curriculum

As a leading middle school in Bergamo with a diverse student body, we offer an internationally recognised curriculum. The MYP framework focuses on eight subject areas: Language & Literature; Individuals and Societies; Mathematics; Arts; Design; Language Acquisition; Science; and Physical and Health Education. The national curriculum prepares learners for the Italian Scuola Terza Media exam.

In addition to their scheduled lessons, learners are welcome to drop into one of several Maths and Literacy clinics for assistance in these areas.

These examination results are assessed and awarded by an independent, external commission of teachers appointed by the local state school, ensuring objectivity and alignment with national educational benchmarks.

Languages in Our Middle School

Although English is the primary language of instruction, our middle years programme benefits from a strong language department that equips native Italian speakers with a deep knowledge of Italian language and literature.

International students in our middle school explore the Italian Language Acquisition Course, which develops a strong understanding of Italian.

Meanwhile, students who are new to English receive excellent support in English Language Acquisition classes, aimed at students who lack the necessary fluency in English to enrol in a Language and Literature course.

Middle school students are also required to take an additional Language Acquisition course in French, Spanish or German.
